Company Trip 2008

What?
Mummy was away last weekend for mummy's annual company trip.
When?
08-08-08 till 10-08-08
(Official day 1 and the opening of the Beijing Olympics)

Where?

Swiss Garden, Kuantan.

Who?
Mummy together with 103 of mummy's colleagues

Why?
To have fun fun and fun

How?
We had 4 choices of destination this year for our company trip. Bandung, Melacca, Awana Kijal and Kuantan. Considering the dates and location, mummy decided to head for Kuantan. Our company trip was organized by mummy's department and handled by the event organizer who pretty much gave us a memorable trip.
All of mummy's good friends came for this trip as well, cause we normally decided together where we would want to spend the weekend together.
We left for Kuantan at 9.00am in the morning. We boarded the bus in Subang Jaya and arrived Kuantan at 2pm. We had 3 pit stops and we eager to reach Kuantan as we were kinda bored in the bus already. When we reached Kuantan, we were taken to the a Restaurant called Paksu, famous for it's seafood. We attacked the food like nobody's business as we were hungry at that time. Some of the food served to us during lunch time was:

Kuantan famous crab cake

Hot spicy prawn

Yam basket

Fried Squid

Juicy papaya for dessert

After the lunch we were taken to a Batik factory which was not that far away for shopping. All the ladies was crazy over the batiks there.

The factory was impressive but the prices are not all that cheap. After looking at the price, mummy's hometown gives better price anytime.

After a 30 minutes shopping we check into the hotel. At the same time that day, a group of people from AIA too had their staff outing there. So imagine the crowd there. We have a pool room view, nice toilet and a big and comfortable bed. This is the benefit of being in the organizing committee.
Cool room

.......with a pool view

After getting unpack, we had to get ready to go to the beach for some light games. We were group into few groups and each group name is based on the colour bands that we get. Mummy was in the red team. We have fun with the beach activities although we did not win anything. It was also a way to get to know other staff which we have never met before.

Our Red Team!

One of the beach games

After the games we went back to get ready for dinner, which was buffet in the hotel restaurant. After dinner we had a choice to either watch movie or free and easy. We went to watch the movie for a while and adjourn to the pub in the hotel. We watch the Olympics opening there until the live singers perform for the night. Mummy ordered Shirley Temple and so does mummy's other friends. After we left the pub, mummy could smell mummy's whole body full of smoke. Not good.

Day 2

On day 2 we had breakfast before headed to the beach again for team building. This round too we were group again with the different colours. And mummy was in red team again. Mummy had mummy's colleagues in mummy's team together with one of our French lecturer. Actually we had few French lecturer in this trip and everybody was like wahhhh....when they pass by and was hoping that they would be in the same team as them.

After team building we headed for lunch in a local restaurant followed a trip to buy all the dry food like salted fish, prawn crackers, etc. Then we were taken to see turtles in Cherating and also a visit to the 'mengkuang' cottage business.

Kah Wah...with loads of food

We arrived the hotel close to 6.30pm, just in time to get ready for the dinner that night. We had a theme that we need to follow and it was Denim Night, everything Denim. That night too we had prize giving ceremony for the winning team of the team building activity. Mummy's team won second place. No bad huh?

Our Red Team members - we won second place!

After dinner we went for Karaoke next to the beach and we sand the whole night long till at about 12.30am before we hit the sack. Mummy sang so much that when mummy return mummy almost lost mummy's voice.

Day 3

We have breakfast before we check-out. We left the hotel around 11.00am and went back to the Batik Factory for last round of shopping before we headed home. We stop at the R&R for lunch and arrive Subang Jaya around 4.30pm.

It was one of the most enjoyable company trip that mummy had so far. We had joy, we had fun we had season in the sun. All of mummy's colleagues who are parents, became single again for the weekend and had all the fun that we never had for a long time.

Appreciation Lunch

Last Thursday mummy and mummy's colleagues were treated for a nice lunch in Atrium Cafe, in Pyramid Towers for all the effort that we have put in for our company for the recent project that we did. It was well done so the boss decided to treat us for some good exciting food.

We went for the buffet and all of us ate until we couldn't move. We enjoyed the side dishes, main course, and not to forget the dessert especially the ice kacang.

We appreciate what the boss did and we were glad that our job are appreciated and recognised. Thanks for lunch BOSS!

Time with the children

Mummy had the opportunity to come back home early last week from work. Early means reach home before 7pm, where mummy could still have time to see the sun set. It was like many months that mummy didn't had the opportunity, so when opportunity comes, mummy quickly took it.

So what mummy did was, went back and took the boys out to the playground. They were happy to see mummy come back early and so excited. So the first day mummy took them to the big playground near to our apartment. Second day was just around our apartment.

Mummy realised that mummy could spend so much time with them when mummy comes home early. Because normally when mummy comes home, they will be ready to go to sleep. It was fun spending time with them and see how happy they were.

Best Friends are Forever?

I am sure that throughout our childhood until adult life, some of us would have their best friends along the way that shares everything and anything in life. They are the best buddies and when ever there is a problem or success these two friends will have each other to share it with.

Well the experience that mummy had with so-called ‘best friends’ were not that good all these years. The best friends that mummy had all betrayed mummy in what mummy believes in and also mummy’s trust.

The first encounter was, when mummy was studying. This person had nobody when she first came in and mummy quickly became her friends. Taught her everything she needs to know about this new place and even take her for lunch and all that. In the end, to repay mummy, she took all mummy’s good friends away from mummy and also make some of them go against mummy. Mummy told another friend that she can’t be trusted anymore but the other friend refused to believe mummy. In the end, she got hurt too by this ‘best friend’ too.

Another of mummy’s ‘best friends’ told other people what mummy told her it’s a secret. Well, she broke the first rule of friendship, trust.

So when you see people sending forwarded e-mails – “Friends are forever” those kind of stuff, mummy feels that it’s not true for all people. Some might be lucky to get good friends and some might not. Now mummy has many good friends instead of many best friends. Daddy is mummy's only best friend now.

What are you main criteria when you choose a friend or a best friend? What do you look for? And who can you trust? Mummy would like some feedback and maybe in process can learn a thing or two about friendship.

A stay in Cyberview Lodge

We got a free stay in Cyberview Lodge on Uncle Ramesh wedding day. Aunty Dewi booked a Junior Suite for our family as Kong-kong, Mama and Uncle Mark joined us too. As the jouney home was far, so Uncle Ramesh decided that everybody in the family should stay there for the night after the wedding.

Joshua loves the bed in master bedroom so much. He made himself comfortable and didn't get out of bed after he went in. All of us enjoyed our stay there and it was like a short holiday. The room is very nice and it was like living out in the country side. There were green all over the place and a beautiful swimming pool just behind out room. Joel loves the pool but not Joshua. He refuses to go into the water and his brother refuses to get out of it. Totally opposite.

We left home around 12.00 something after checking out and sent for a ride in mummy's old university (Multimedia University) around the corner. When we reached home, two boys were so tired that they slept till 3.00pm.
We want to say Thanks to Aunty Dewi and Uncle Ramesh for the wonderful stay there and not to forget nice breakfast buffet too. We don't mind going again!

To be or not to be

Mummy got an e-mail from a colleague about a story of a man and how he made it through life's up and downs. What was his secret? Well, basically you have two choices in life. Everything in life there is postive and negative. It's up to us to decide whether we want the good or the bad. To be in good mood or bad or to be happy or sad. So every morning when he wakes up, he choices to be happy and it's a good start to a brand new day.

But people will say, "In life where got choice wan? If got choice no need to work or suffer lar" Well it's true. Life is not that bed of roses that we expect it to be. There are times when we are happy and there are times when we get hurt. But the moral of this man's story is that in life sometimes we need to know that we have a choice, maybe not all the time, but there are times that we could.

After reading about the man's story, it gives mummy a diffrent perspective of life. It's all up to us. Whether we want to get offended by someone's remarks and words or we just choose the good things we want to hear. Not everybody is a good communicator, so therefore they bound to put in words which they don't mean to hurt people and it did. As long as we know what kind of person we deal with, we are save. Well this is not the first time mummy heard about this. Daddy used to tell mummy this too. Maybe this will serve as a reminder to all of us, that life is too short to get angry with!

Pureen Warehouse Sales

This coming weekend will house another warehouse sale. It's baby stuff again.....Pureen. Mummy bought quiet a number of stuff the last round, helping mummy colleagues to get some shampoo and body shampoos. This round there is not much to buy as we have stocked enough to last us the next few months. But mummy wanted to get a cup for Joshua and Joel.

Mummy actually bought for them one each the last round. But there is a certain area that is not cleanable and is trapping dirt and bacteria to the place where they drink the water. So it's best that we just dispose the old one and get a new one for them. The price is reasonable if compare to the market price, but mummy is contemplating whether to go or not cause just for one cup mummy had to go all the way....petrol price is not cheap now a days.

For those of you who wants to save on baby products can go to this sale which is from 2-3 August in Petaling Jaya.

Bata Warehouse Sale

Last Saturday, the whole family including Ahmama went to Klang to have breakfast with Uncle Ramesh and Aunty Dewi. Well, we didn't want to disturb the newly weds...but cannot resist. So we took them out for breakfast in a tim sum shop next to Giant.

After that we went to the Bata Warehouse sale located in Jalan Kapar. All the way there was jam and we manage to get our way through. It was actually the factory of Bata and there were a big so called tent that locate all the shoes for sale, you cannot miss it. When we were inside the tent, we were so amazed with the prices listed. It's so damm cheap (mind my language). Mummy bought some shoes for only RM9-12 each and daddy manage to grab a jogging shoe which was RM89.90 for RM29.90.

We were like ahh and ohh... the whole time. It quiet hot though, but we don't mind the sauna as the prices was like 50% or more from the market price. There we kids shoes as well but we did not buy any for our children as they already have lots of shoes and they might out grown them. School white socks go as low as RM1 each. We bought around 11 pairs of shoes for less than RM150.

After coming home from the sale, mummy clean the shoe cabinet and throw all the old shoes that mummy kept for so long, to make room for the new shoes.

Baby Ariel Lim

Last Sunday, all of us went to visit baby Ariel. We wanted to go on Saturday but Aunty Chanel had to go to the hospital for baby Ariel's checkup. So we decided to go on Sunday. Along with us was Aunty Chanel's cousin Retna, her son, her mum and her maid. So we all went one gang to see the new born baby.

The first moment we all saw her, we say that she is like 'ang ku in' (same face) like her brother. Even Aunty Chanel was saying that it's as if Jeriel was re-born again. Her hand and legs was so tiny and Joel was so amuzed with her. Joshua is not a fan of babies so, it didn;t interest him, while Joel was like, baby.... baby and baby.

We were there for a few hours. We had lunch there and left around 12.45pm to fetch Ahmama in the church.

A Durian Weekend

Last Sunday we were actually busy...going here and there. But the most important part of the day was, our Durian session at Uncle Peter's house. We went to his house to visit him and his family and on the way we saw a small stall selling durian. Being a durian lover, we cannot resist and daddy bought a RM20 worth of durian, which was about 11 fruits, all small sizes.

Daddy opened the durians and we ate outside the house cause we do not want the whole house to have the durian smell after we left. Joshua also had his share of durian. Joel is not a fan. In the end our stomach was full, and contented.

Congratulations

We received news this afternoon that Aunty Chanel delivered a baby girl, Ariel Lim at 12.18pm. Mummy wanted to visit Aunty Chanel before she delivered but didn't have the time. Mummy was busy with Uncle Ramesh wedding preparation and thought that we have the time this week. So before we went to church mummy SMS aunty Chanel to ask her what time can mummy come to visit her. After church mummy receive a SMS that she just delivered her baby girl. Anyway, we were praying that she have a save delivery and didn't know that on the other side of PJ she is in the hospital delivering her baby.

We would like to congratulate Aunty Chanel and her family and also welcome baby Ariel to the world!

Daddy's Birthday

Daddy celebrated his birthday last Saturday. We were at home the whole day till evening and we took daddy to TGIF for dinner. Before that, Uncle Peter and his family came by to wish daddy happy birthday and gave daddy his present. We also bought daddy carrot walnut cheese cake from Berry's which tasted like heaven.

After cutting cake, all of us, Daddy, Mummy, Amama, Joshua, Joel, Aiman koko and Schenker went to Subang Parade. Earlier, Amama asked Ee ee to buy 2 shirts for daddy but daddy didn't like it very much. So we went to Parkson and change the shirt and also have our dinner at the same time. Daddy said that he had a very nice birthday day.

At TGIF, we had a splendid time and enjoyed ourselves there. For the first time, Joel actually sat at his seat the whole time we were there. Normally he would be restless and won't stay put. This round he enjoyed his meal and even ate the sauce for his fries. Well we had 3 free kids meal there because we order 3 main meals. The portions was huge that we all had a full stomach when we left.

Mummy told the waiter that it was daddy's birthday that night. So they gave him a free cake with a condition that he need to stand up on his chair and sing a song. So daddy and Joshua stood up and also asked the waiter to stand up with him to sing the Beyond song. And later the whole team of waiters came to sing daddy a birthday song.

Kah Wah's birthday

We celebrated our colleagues's birthday last Friday during our lunch time. She wanted to go to Sakea Sushi so all 6 of us took her there. It is our so called tradition that the birthday person decides what she wants to eat. Last time we used to have birthday surprises, but sooner and later eveyrbody seem to know that a surprise is coming on their birthday day, we stop giving them surprises. So that's how our new tradition starts. Birthday person decide what they want for the day. And there's a birthday cake after that. What is a birthday without a cake.

It was a fun time for all of us. We love Japanese food and attacked the food once we were seated at the restaurant. We all wish Kah Wah,.......A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Daddy's Pre Birthday Celebration

Daddy had his pre-birthday celebration last Friday in Victoria's Station. Ee Ee wanted to spend daddy for his birthday earlier as she had to leave to Doha that midnight itself. As daddy was working earlier that day, we only went there around 10.30pm. Luckily they only closes at 12am.

It was our first time there. Never thought that we would go there as we always had the impression that it's like a 5 star restaurant and the prizes would be very expensive. But after going there that night, we find that it's just another restaurant and the prizes are quiet affordable. It's the same level we would say with TGIF and Italianese. Each had it's own specialities.

Daddy had some szilling steak and mummy had a combo of fish and prawns. It was good. Joshua also enjoyed himself and Joel didn't join us as he was asleep at home. We left VC around 11.30pm and went home with a full stomach.

The Church Wedding

The awaited day has finally arrived. Everybody was so excited to welcome another new day, a special day for Uncle Ramesh and Aunty Dewi. It was a day that they will never forget for the rest of their lives. Daddy woke up very early that day, as he was supposed to be in Klang before 8.00am. He was supposed to join the convoy to pick the bride in PJ.

Daddy was not feeling well the day before. He was down with fever and flu and had to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. But luckily, he felt better on Uncle Ramesh's wedding day. Mummy was still not ready when daddy left for Klang. Slowly mummy woke the boys up, gave them breakfast and dress them up. We were supposed to be in church by 10am to welcome the guest.

We reached there on time, mummy speed like crazy, after all, the wedding only started around 11.00am. When we were getting ready, all the raging was going on at the bride's house. Well, you have to go through the pain before you can get your pot of gold, that's what they say.

Joshua was supposed to be second page boy together with his cousin. But when he reached the church he got scared seeing those unfamiliar faces and insisted that I carried all the time. Joel as usual, will be busy walking and looking around, without any fear. Kong kong was busy chasing him round, making sure that he don't hurt himself or the flowers. After a little warming up, Joshua was fine.

The wedding lasted around 45min to 1 hour. Joel slept throughout the service. After the wedding we had our family photos taken followed by lunch. Right after lunch was the tea ceremony. It was a very interesting session. More over all of us got ang pau instead of giving cause they are older in rank than us. So...it was fun.

Wedding preperation

Mummy took leave one day before the wedding to help Uncle Ramesh with some of the preparation. Mummy could not take the day earlier as mummy was busy at work due to some audit that will take place sometime the following week.

Mummy's main job was to help decorate the wedding car and well it was not an easy task to do it. Mummy had some of mummy's friend actually get some pictures of wedding cars and try to get some ideas on how to do it, simple but elegent and sweet and not so eleborate and presentable. Their wedding theme colour was orange and red.

Mummy had the ribbons ordered from mummy's hometown cause it's a lot cheaper if mummy buy it from Subang. When Mama came down on Thursday, she brought the ribbons with her, just in time for the wedding.

Wedding car - BEFORE

Wedding car - AFTER

So the next morning, mummy and kong kong start to decorate the car. Mummy sent Mama, Joshua & Joel to Ah Ma's house while mummy prepares the car. Well if the two boys are around, they will have their own ideas of decorating the car. Mummy don't want that as mummy's time and ribbons is limited. No time and resources to waste at that time of the day.

The wedding car belongs to daddy's friend. He drove all the way from Alor Star to lend us the car. Overall, Uncle Ramesh like the deco, that is what matters the most.

Uncle Ramesh Wedding Registration

Uncle Ramesh and Aunty Dewi got registered on 9 July 2008 at one of the church in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. Mummy took half day leave to attend the signing ceremony. those who attended the ceremony were Grandma and grandpa, Uncle Peter and his family, Aunty Dewi's mum and her granny and also mummy and daddy.

Uncle Ramesh signing his registration certificate and saying bye bye to bachelorhood.

Aunty Dewi signing the registration certificate and saying bye bye to freedom

It was a simple ceremony but full of meaning. Even though it's just signing, they are now legally a married couple in the eyes of the law. They started off by wearing for each other the 'male' which is the string of flowers. It's a part of the Indian tradition and they were supposed to keep and dry the it in their house. It also represents togetherness and belonging to each other.

Then the pastor explained what they need to do and they start with the signing and grandma and grandpa became the witness for them. The ceremony ended around 3.30pm and all of us went back to our house to have the wedding plans discussion after that.

What to wear?

As Uncle Ramesh's wedding is coming very soon...... we are now thinking what we should be wearing for his wedding. We plan to wear something more traditional for the dinner but mummy still don't know what to wear for the church wedding. Can anybody suggest what mummy should wear. Something simple and at the same time elegant. Mummy is not sure what is in fashion now. Any idea where to search for all latest clothes?

It's not easy to find something that we like and at the same fits us perfectly. Mummy is also looking for a suit for Joel as he still do not have anything to wear. We all want to wear the same outfit and it's not easy to look for one. Well hope that we could get a pretty one..... mummy also forgot, shoes!

Boy, there are a lot of things to think off.

Mummy's new hobby

Mummy like to read novels especially novels by Danielle Steel. Mummy used to read her books when mummy was studying. Not a die hard fan but mummy find that her stories are easy to relate to. The stories that she writes are more on love and family and also friends. How they cope with incidents and happening in their lifes.

Currently mummy started reading again, during some free time. It's amazing that mummy is going to finish her book this round and within a month. Normally mummy would take few months just for a book.

The book that mummy's reading is Sunset in St Tropez. Story is pretty interesting about 3 good friends with their spouses. Everything goes well till one of the friends wife pass away and life changes for all of them after that. Mummy have not finished the book yet to know the conclusion but it could be a happy ending....
